Your initial questions answered (hopefully!)
but feel free to contact me directly or book a free introductory call if you want to know more
Where do sessions take place?
All sessions are pre-arranged and held remotely, via video or audio call. I work from a dedicated and private office space, and the only ones who may occasionally make an appearance during our sessions are my cats! Please ensure that you also have a private and confidential space available at the time of our appointment to take the call, and rest assured that pets are always welcome.
When we start working together, you will have access to a secure and GDPR compliant platform where you can view my availability, book sessions, make payments and join our video calls.
Can I work with you if I am not based in the UK?
Yes, I am experienced in working therapeutically with people from all over the world. I am insured to offer psychotherapy sessions to people residing anywhere but the USA and Canada. I am bilingual and speak English & Greek fluently.
How long do sessions last?
Typically sessions last up to 50 minutes. For various reasons, people may benefit from shorter (30 minutes) or extended sessions (90 minutes) and this can be discussed and arranged upon request. Please note that, based on clinical evidence and good clinical practice guidelines, it may be necessary to arrange 90-minute sessions for specific aspects of therapy work, such as trauma reprocessing sessions, especially when there are active symptoms of post-traumatic stress. If this is applicable to the difficulties you experience, I will share more information and answer all of your questions within our sessions.
Do you offer a free introductory call?
Yes, I offer a free intoductory audio call which lasts up to 15 minutes. The aim of this call is for you to get a sense of me as a person & therapist and see if we are a good fit. I will ask you to briefly describe what led you to seek therapy and you will have the opportunity to ask questions about me, the way I work, and any practical issues you may want us to think about together. Please note that this is not an assessment or therapy session, therefore we will not be able to talk about any of your issues in detail. If you wish to commence working with me, you will then need to book an initial consultation.
What happens in the initial consulation & subsequent therapy sessions?
The initial consultation is where we really start to get to know each other and think about how to best work together. I will ask you to describe your life circumstances and the issues that concern you in more detail. We will also talk about your hopes for therapy and will start to make sense of how your problems came about. We will review the therapy contract and, from there, we will agree the regular fee per session based on your specific needs, session length and frequency. Typically this first consultation and subsequent therapy sessions last up to 50 minutes but alternative arrangements can be made upon request.
How much do sessions cost?
The cost of sessions varies depending on length of session, frequency and currency you wish to pay in. Block bookings are available and attract a discount when paid for in advance. Your circumstances, preferences and fees will be discussed in the 15-minute free introductory audio call and agreed upon in your initial consultation. Please note that I accept payments in British Pounds & Euros.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, I have a 48-hour cancellation policy and payment for all appointments is required in advance to confirm your session. This is because the appointment time is reserved exclusively for you and other clients miss the chance to book in, if sufficient notice is not given for cancellations.
If you wish to cancel or rearrange a session, please let me know as soon as possible. You are required to give a minimum of 48-hours’ notice via email, otherwise you will still be charged for the full session fee.
If you are late for your agreed session, I will stay on the call for 15 minutes to allow for any eventualities. If you don’t make contact within this time, your session will be cancelled and you will still be charged for the full session fee. If you do attend your session within the first 15 minutes, we will carry on with our session but will still finish on the original time.
Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you have access to a confidential space, an internet-enabled device and stable internet connection, to attend our agreed sessions promptly. If you are not able to complete your session due to technical issues on your end, you will still be charged for the full session fee.
If I ever need to cancel our agreed session, I will do my best to give you as much notice as possible and offer you an alternative. The fee you already paid will act as payment for the rearranged session. If you don’t wish to attend another session with me, the fee you already paid will be refunded.
Please note that I reserve the right to cancel a session immediately and still charge for it, if one of the following applies:
a client is abusive during the session
a client attends the session under significant influence of drugs or alcohol
I become aware that a client is not in a confidential space and this may compromise theirs or my safety
The above information is also explained in your therapy contract.
What if I am in a crisis?
